Description
The road between narrow sheer cliffs upon Sermenza stream joins Balmuccia to Cerca di Rossa, when we can see the Oratory of St. Bernard, sticking out from the houses, with a fine fresco of Avondo on the façade.
From here starts the first "Track of Art" of Rossa, that take us to Lavaggi Alps, through a wood and green grass that climb upon the side of the mountain. In Folecchio hamlet we find the Oratory of St. Fabian and Sebastian, that preserves a paint f 1614, perhaps made by Melchiorre d'Enrico.
On the left of the main road, following the cross-road for Rossa and after some steep bends, rocked upon the sides of Tracciora, herewith appears the sunshine village.
Immediately we see the Parish Church, dedicated to the Assunta blessed Mary: the building built up at the beginning of the eighteen century on the place of the old church, is huge and beautiful with a façade made by a typical porch and inside a large bright space, enriched by a solemn architecture and rich forniture.
Numerous inhabitated palaces, upon the left side of the valley, constitute a particular example of urbanistic and achitecture, the edge upon are located like a terrace upon the valley.
The houses closed one to another, separated by narrow lanes, are covered by the characteristic "beole": among the sticks the St. Rocco Oratory.
From the village branches off a second track of the Art that bring us to Our Holy Lady of the Stone, homonymous to the Boccioleto's one and - in two hours walking - to the Alps upon the Oro.
The first hamlet we find in Piana, surrounded by meadows and numerous ancient houses, where stands the Oratory of St. John the Baptist, called "The Old" to distinguish from the most recent and large one, built on the first XIX century, no far from here.
In the ancient oratory we can mention the series of frescoes of XV century on the aspe wall, perhaps made by De Campo.
Following through the meadows and fields with trees, we join Rainero, enriched by the Oratory of the Visitation, build upon XVIII century, characterised on the façade by the fresco of the Holy Lady into Glory Heaven with the Saints. From here, passing "Alpe Prese", we arrive to "Alpe Tu delle Roggie", that is a group of ruins; now the track become plain and take us to the Oratory of Our Holy Lady of stone.
The church is dedicated to the Our Lady of the Sorrow, painting by Emilio Contini, meanwhile in a another painting is portrayed the Canonical Nicolao Sottile, born in Rossa, who built the Church with his father, who appears dressed with uniform of the Napoleon's Army.
After a difficult track we finally arrive to the Alps upon Oro, where there is the aedicule dedicated to St. Bernard. We go down again to Rossa, through a track that offers wonderful landscape on the Cavaione, and before entering the hamlet we emmet the church of Giavinelle, dedicated to the Holy Mary of the Snow, fescoes on the façade by Cristiforo Martiniolo, called the Rocca, upon XVIII century and enriched inside by the wood altar, baroque, and by vault frescoed by Borsetti.
After a qhile we reach the centre of the hamlet and then the main road.
